How to use an Elinic glucometer
Materials needed:
– Elinic glucometer
– Lancets
– Test strips
– Cotton swabs
– Alcohol
– Container for disposal of lancets and test strips
Steps to follow:
1. Wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Dry thoroughly with a clean towel.
2. Prepare the puncture site. Choose a finger, usually the ring or little finger. Clean the area with alcohol and let it dry completely.
3. Insert the lancet into the lancing device. Select the appropriate puncture depth according to your sensitivity to pain.
4. Press the lancing device against your finger at the puncture site.
5. Obtain a drop of blood. Wipe off the first drop of blood with a cotton swab. Squeeze out another small drop of blood and touch it to the edge of the test strip.
6. Insert the test strip into the glucometer. The meter will automatically turn on and start counting the time.
7. Wait for the result. The blood glucose test result will be shown on the meter display in a few seconds.
8. Record the result. It is important to record your blood glucose results so that you can monitor your blood sugar level and make adjustments to your treatment as needed.
9. Dispose of the lancet and test strip in a suitable container.
